Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police‘s X handle post on 12th September 2025 regarding a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 179-kilometre peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road on 12th September 2025.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police hereby releases the names of the victims who died in the crash.
The victims were identified by their next of kin as follows:-
Leopold Mudiwakure (43), a male adult of Waterfalls, Harare, (Toyota Aqua driver),
- Fortune Eddington Chitsaka (21), a male adult of Waterfalls, Harare,
- Sithembiso Bhegedhe, a female adult of Waterfalls, Harare,
- Danson Chidewu, a male adult of Unit J, Seke, Chitungwiza. (Toyota Dyna truck driver),
- Martin Mazhata (41), a male adult of Vembe, Village, Chief Chaminuka, Gweru,
- Takudzwa Masanganise (35), a male adult of Zowa Farm, Zvimba.
One of the victims, a male adult, who was a passenger in the Toyota Dyna truck, is yet to be identified and the body is currently at Masvingo Provincial Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We appeal to drivers to seriously consider road safety while traveling on the country’s roads.
