The business against crime concept is an initiative by the corporate world where business persons mobilize resources that are then channeled towards the fight against any form of criminal activity within businesses. Since the Zimbabwe Republic Police does not operate in a vacuum, such schemes go a long way in complementing their efforts of trying to rid society of crime. While crime cannot be completely eradicated, curbing crime has proved to be a mammoth task the world over, hence the incorporation of the business community in fighting crime would go a long way in moulding a society that most of us envy for, a crime free environment.
The business community is conscious that a crime-free society is ideal for their prosperity. There are so many ways through which they have played a part in fighting crime.
The involvement of the business community in fighting crime has yielded tangible positive results. Notably, there has been a great percentage of reduction of store breaking, robbery, theft, fraud and other criminal cases that used to be a headache to business persons. Sooner than later, the banking sector could be seen installing electronic communication gadgets linked to police establishments, a move that can result in speed reaction when such institutions fall prey to armed criminals.
