PRESS STATEMENT : 08TH SEPTEMBER 2025 – ZRP STATEMENT ON SCHOOLS OPENING FOR 2025 THIRD TERM

As schools open for the third term, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing to parents, guardians, school authorities and the general public to prioritize the safety and security of children.

The Police urges transport operators to ensure that their vehicles are certified fit before attempting to transport children to schools. Drivers should exercise caution, avoid speeding and above all, motorists are implored to comply with all road rules and regulations to prevent road traffic accidents.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police advises parents and school authorities to ensure that learners do not travel at night, as this can expose them to various risks, including road traffic accidents. School authorities and transporters should ensure that buses and other forms of transport to be utilized for the movement of pupils are not overloaded at all costs.

Additionally, school authorities are urged to deposit school fees and tuition-related costs at financial institutions. This precautionary measure will help minimize the risk of robbery and theft, as large sums of cash at school premises attract criminal attention.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges the parents to be vigilant and report suspicious criminal activities to the Police immediately.

Above all, the public should report criminal activities on National Complaints Desk number (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp on 0712 800 197 or report at any nearest Police Station.
