ZRP PRESS STATEMENT : 24th JULY 2024 – UPDATE ON A FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AT THE 70 KILOMETRE PEG ALONG NGUNDU -TANGANDA ROAD, CHIREDZI

Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s post on X platform on 22nd July 2024 regarding a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 70 kilometre peg along Ngundu -Tanganda Road in which eight people died while two others were injured.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of all the eight victims who were identified by their next of kin as:-

  • Evarson Mawire (41), a male adult of Nyengerai Village, Masvingo.
  • Clemence Chitumba (38), a male adult of Chitumba Village, Masvingo.
  • Davison Gono (57),a male adult of Chademana, Chiredzi.
  • Kumbirai Mudzivo (40), a female adult of Village 3C Matutu, Mukwasine.
  • Tosiya Dzuda (43), a female adult of Chatanda Village, Masvingo.
  • Misheck Muzamani (53), a male adult of Mazarire Village, Nyajena.
  • Gabriel Dzanayi (23), of Gunikuni Village, Masvingo.
  • Phineas Dzanayi (52), of Gunikuni Village, Masvingo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to avoid overloading of vehicles when travelling on the country’s roads. Above all, drivers are urged to observe all road rules and regulations to safeguard lives.
