ZRP PRESS STATEMENT : 9TH JUNE 2024 – UPDATE ON A FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ALONG HARARE-BINDURA ROAD

Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s post on X platform on a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 37 kilometre peg along Harare-Bindura Road at Mazowe Dam on 18th June 2024 at around 1345 hours.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of the victims who have been identified by their next of kin as:

  • Kennedy Ngoshi (40), a male adult of Zengeza, Chitungwiza.
  • Plaxedes Kasambwa (36), a female adult of Nyabadza, Rusape.
  • Monica Katena (54), a female adult of Kuwadzana Extension, Harare.

The other victim is yet to be identified by her next of kin.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that all drivers should avoid speeding and should be cautious when travelling on the country’s roads. Drivers should not try to overtake in situations which are clearly not safe to do so. On the other hand, drivers are implored not to abruptly turn or change lanes in front of oncoming traffic. It is the responsibility of drivers to safeguard lives on the roads.
