PRESS STATEMENT    14TH MAY  2024 : ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS AT GABRIELLA E MINE, INYATHI

Reference is made to our post on the Zimbabwe Republic Police X handle on 08th May 2024.The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Kholwani Ncube (33), Pride Sibanda (28), Cornelius Moyo (32), Guidance Sibanda (29), Bekithemba Mlotshwa (36), Francis Moyo (33), Professor Moyo (25) and Mlala Kelvin (40) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred on  06th May 2024.at Gabriella E Mine, Inyathi where 6 x 50 kilogrammes of pregnant gold carbons were stolen.

On 09th May 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Bulawayo acted on received information and arrested Kholwani Ncube at his place of residence in Lobengula West, Bulawayo. The suspect admitted to committing the offence and implicated the other seven suspects as his accomplices, leading to their arrests.

The arrest of the suspects led to the recovery of two okapi knives, 5 X 50 kilograms of gold carbon and the suspects get away car, a red Toyota Hilux motor vehicle, registration number AEK 7524.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Elias Mutendi (40) in connection with a spate of fraud cases which occurred during the period between 2013 and  2022. The suspect purportedly sold non-existent properties to eight unsuspecting victims, in and around Bulawayo after forging documents, thereby defrauding them of their money.

On 11th May 2024, detectives from CID Bulawayo posed as potential clients and lured the suspect to Unit Village in Bulawayo, leading to his arrest.

The suspect is clearing eight cases of fraud. In one of the cases which occurred in December 2013, the suspect posed as a land developer to an unsuspecting client and defrauded the victim of ZAR86 000.00. In another case which occurred on 21st August 2019, the suspect forged an agreement of sale of a stand which did not belong to him and he presented the forged document to the High Court in Bulawayo. The matter came to light when the complainant got information that his name was appearing on the High Court Civil roll.
