- The Crime Department falls under Deputy Commissioner General (Crime). Its core mandate is to effectively and efficiently analyze and monitor crime trends and patterns, disseminate accurate crime information to approved end users and to supervise the prevention, investigation and detection of crime in the country while ensuring that the entire process is executed within the legal and ethical framework. Each section has a specific mandate as follows;-
CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT (CID)
The department falls under the Director (CID) and is responsible for the prompt detection, prevention, recovery of stolen property and preparation of quality dockets for prosecution of serious crimes.
LEGAL SERVICES
The section falls under the Director (Legal Services) and is responsible for supporting and sustaining operational, administrative and human resources systems to enable the organisation to function within laid down legal parameters.
INTERNAL INVESTIGATIONS
The section falls under the Chief Staff Officer (Internal Investigations).
VICTIM FRIENDLY UNIT (VFU)
The section falls under the Chief Staff Officer (VFU) and is responsible for pro-actively and reactively dealing with gender based violence perpetrated against women and children in a friendly manner.
