The Zimbabwe Republic Police<\/strong> confirms the arrest of Edson Murambidzi (33)<\/strong> and Takudzwa Makanha (24)<\/strong> in connection with three armed robbery cases and a murder case which occurred in Harare, Mt Darwin, Mvurwi and Dotito.<\/p>\n

On 19th<\/sup> July 2025<\/strong>, detectives from CID Homicide Harare acted on information received that Edson Murambidzi<\/strong> and Takudzwa Makanha<\/strong> were linked to several armed robbery cases, including a case where they attacked a financial service provider at Kuwadzana Two (2) Shopping Centre in Harare. The suspects were armed with pistols while covering their faces with balaclavas. They attacked security guards and blasted safes with explosives before stealing USD9,000<\/strong> cash.<\/p>\n

The detectives tracked the suspects to Musungate Village, Juru, where they apprehended them at Katsande<\/strong> Homestead.<\/p>\n

The suspects implicated eight others who are yet to be arrested and led detectives to the recovery of a .38 special revolver loaded with five live rounds, \u00a0two Wi-Fi routers stolen from an Econet shop in Mvurwi and a small torch.<\/p>\n

In a separate incident, detectives acted on received information regarding reports of women who were being robbed and sexually abused by suspects who advertise on social media platforms, purporting to offer employment to unsuspecting victims as shopkeepers in Domboshava. The suspects would then invite the victims to Domboshava, where they would rob them of their valuables before raping them.<\/p>\n

The detectives proceeded to Mungate village, where they tracked and arrested three suspects, Jameson Jackson (28)<\/strong>, Wickson Simon (28)<\/strong>, and Blessing Mapfuwa (24)<\/strong>, at their residences. The police recovered nine women’s identification documents, six smart-phones, various ladies’ wallets, two bags with various ladies’ clothes and a plastic bag containing sanitary pads, a kitchen knife and a revolver resembling a pistol that the suspects used to threaten victims.<\/p>\n

The suspects are linked to three cases of armed robbery and a case of rape committed in Hatcliffe and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The Zimbabwe Republic Police<\/strong> reiterates that members of public should exercise caution when responding to job offers on social media platforms. We urge the public to verify the authenticity of the offers before responding to avoid falling victim to criminals.<\/p>\n
