{"id":7488,"date":"2024-03-15T14:59:16","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/zrpnew\/?p=7488"},"modified":"2024-03-15T14:59:36","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:59:36","slug":"zrp-press-statement-19th-january-2024-arrest-of-six-suspects-for-impersonating-members-of-the-security-services-and-unlawful-possession-of-crystal-meth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zrp.gov.zw\/?p=7488","title":{"rendered":"ZRP PRESS STATEMENT :\u00a019th\u00a0JANUARY 2024 &#8211; ARREST OF SIX SUSPECTS FOR IMPERSONATING MEMBERS OF THE SECURITY SERVICES AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CRYSTAL METH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Zimbabwe Republic Police<\/strong>\u00a0confirms the arrest of <strong>Lloyd Rayeni Zvoma (33), Clemence Manyika (33), Sylvester Chaire (33), Simbarashe Chiyangwa (34), Sydney Chikozho (46) <\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Felix Tagonera (34) <\/strong>for impersonating members of the security services and unlawful possession of Crystal Meth.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On <strong>18<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0January 2024,<\/strong>\u00a0detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare received information that the suspects were demanding <strong>US$ 1 000.00<\/strong>\u00a0bribe from <strong>Tafadzwa Lovemore Mudzekenyedze<\/strong>\u00a0after they had allegedly apprehended him in Kuwadzana for supplying dangerous drugs to the public. The suspects posed as members of the security services during the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>The detectives<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>acted on the received information and arrested the suspects after tracking them to a side road near Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Grounds, Harare. The arrest led to the recovery of the suspects\u2019 get-away car, a BMW vehicle, registration number <strong>ABG<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>7648,<\/strong>\u00a0a ZRP identity card, <strong>five<\/strong>\u00a0grammes of Crystal Meth, a pair of handcuffs, three GPS tracking devices and a paper spray.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are being linked to another case of impersonating police officers which occurred on <strong>31<\/strong><strong><sup>st<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0December 2023<\/strong>\u00a0at a house along Stoneridge Road, Avondale, Harare where the suspects posed as detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare \u00a0before apprehending <strong>Paola Thompson<\/strong>\u00a0for unlawful cultivation of dagga. Subsequently, the suspects were allegedly given <strong>US$500.00<\/strong>\u00a0as bribe by <strong>Paola Thompson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare had already acted on received information and arrested <strong>Paola Thompson<\/strong>\u00a0and her father, <strong>Tony Octave Cesano<\/strong>\u00a0for unlawfully cultivating dagga on <strong>03<\/strong><strong><sup>rd<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0January 2024<\/strong>. The two have already appeared at Harare Magistrate Court for trial.<\/p>\n<p>The Police is on high alert to arrest criminals masquerading as members of the security services while soliciting for bribes from unsuspecting members of the public.
