{"id":7475,"date":"2024-03-15T14:47:31","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/zrpnew\/?p=7475"},"modified":"2024-03-15T14:48:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:48:06","slug":"zrp-press-statement-13th-january-2024-arrest-of-three-suspects-for-unlawful-entry-into-premises-and-theft-of-motor-vehicle-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zrp.gov.zw\/?p=7475","title":{"rendered":"ZRP PRESS STATEMENT\u00a0:\u00a013TH JANUARY 2024  \u00a0  ARREST OF THREE SUSPECTS FOR \u00a0UNLAWFUL ENTRY INTO PREMISES AND THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE CASES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Zimbabwe Republic Police<\/strong>\u00a0confirms the arrest of <strong>Promise Muchena (27), Desmond Kamundimu (28) and Eric Bvuwe (24) <\/strong>in connection with a spate of unlawful entry into premises and theft, theft from motor vehicle and theft of motor vehicles cases which occurred between <strong>September 2023<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>January 2024<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On the <strong>10<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0January 2024,<\/strong>\u00a0detectives from CID Mutare acted on received information and arrested <strong>Promise Muchena<\/strong>\u00a0in connection with <strong>18<\/strong>\u00a0counts of unlawful entry into premises cases and theft, five counts of theft from motor vehicles and <strong>four<\/strong>\u00a0counts of theft of motor vehicles. \u00a0The suspect implicated <strong>Desmond Kamundimu <\/strong>and <strong>Eric Bvuwe<\/strong>\u00a0as his accomplices and led to their arrest.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest of the <strong>three <\/strong>suspects led to the recovery of some stolen property which includes <strong>laptops, television sets, solar panels, inventors<\/strong>\u00a0among other valuables all valued at <strong>US$19 530-00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Further investigations unearthed that <strong>Promise Muchena<\/strong>\u00a0escaped from Hwahwa Young Offenders Prison on <strong>15<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0August 2023 <\/strong>where he was serving a <strong>14<\/strong>\u00a0months jail term for unlawful entry into premises and theft.<\/p>\n<p>In one of the cases which occurred at Nyamhuka 2, Nyanga on the <strong>18<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0November 2023,<\/strong>\u00a0the <strong>three<\/strong>\u00a0suspects stole a Honda Fit motor vehicle valued at<strong>\u00a0US$5000-00<\/strong>\u00a0and later dumped it in Mutare following a road traffic accident. In another case of theft of motor vehicle which occurred at White Cliff South, Harare on <strong>03<\/strong><strong><sup>rd<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0December 2023, <\/strong>the <strong>three<\/strong>\u00a0suspects stole a Toyota Vits motor vehicle valued at <strong>US$ 2 450-00<\/strong>\u00a0and later dumped it in Mutare following yet another road traffic accident.<\/p>\n<p>In one of unlawful entry and theft case which occurred at a house in Chikanga, Mutare on the <strong>27<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0October 2023<\/strong>, the three suspects forced open a kitchen door and gained entry into a house before stealing a laptop and went away.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Zimbabwe Republic Police<\/strong>\u00a0continues to applaud members of the public for their concerted effort in the fight against crime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(NYATHI.
