Zimbabwe is a member of the SARPCCO. At the 12th<\/sup>\u00a0SARPCCO Annual General Meeting that was held in Lusaka, Zambia from \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a028 July to 3 August 2007, member states agreed to further strengthen their regional vision by enhancing the issues of women empowerment in Police Forces\/Services in the region, giving birth to the SARPCCO Women\u2019s Network. This was also in line with the demands of the United nations Security Council Resolution 1325(2000) and Southern African Development Community protocols on gender and women empowerment. The resolution further made it obligatory for member countries to establish their respective police service\/force Women Network. This gave birth to the ZRP Women Network in 2009. Other SARPCCO member states include:<\/p>\n All the above mentioned countries have since launched their chapters.<\/p>\n ZRP Women Network<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n ZRP Women Network is an entity within the Zimbabwe Republic Police which seeks to empower and uplift female police officers, thereby enhancing quality service to the nation. It was established as a result of 07\/RES\/13 of the 12th<\/sup>\u00a0SARPCCO Annual General Meeting that was held in Lusaka, Zambia. ZRP Women Network was officially launched by the then Commissioner General of Police Cde A\u00a0Chihuri<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0on 2 April 2009. Consequently, provincial, district and station Women Network Chapters were also launched during the same year.<\/p>\n Vision of the ZRP Women Network<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n To have the most empowered and uplifted women police officers in the world by the year 2020.<\/p>\n Mission Statement of the ZRP Women Network<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Its mission is to continuously strive for the total empowerment and upliftment of women police officers thereby enhancing self sustenance, assertiveness and high quality service delivery to the nation.<\/p>\n Values and Ethics<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Aim of the ZRP Women Network<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n The ZRP Women Network aims to empower and uplift female police officers thereby enhancing quality service delivery to the public.<\/p>\n Source Documents<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n The ZRP Women Network is guided by the following source documents:-<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a bid to fulfil its purpose, the ZRP Women Network identified six\u00a0[6]<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0Key Result Areas which acted as benchmark for ensuring that female police officers are empowered in all aspects of life were established.<\/p>\n Key Result Areas<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n The following Key Result Areas were done away with at the 2016 ZRP Women Network Annual General Meeting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n And the following Three [3] Key Result Areas that are job related were maintained:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Activities under the Three [3] Key Result Areas namely:-<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Training and Development<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Goal<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n To have an increase in the number of female police officers\/members participating in training and development programmes, either internally or externally<\/p>\n Objectives<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n By the end of 2020 the ZRP Women Network seeks:<\/p>\n Equal Job Opportunities<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Goal<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n To increase the number of female police officers\/members in decision making positions, specialized units and operational deployments.<\/p>\n Objectives<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Achievements<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Officers\/members continue to take part in operational activities and joining specialized Units alongside their male counterparts. This has seen an improvement of their participation in the following:<\/p>\n United Nations Peacekeeping Duties<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Zimbabwe Republic Police female police officers\/members continued to fly the Zimbabwean flag high in the international arena under the banner of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. During the year 2016, twenty seven\u00a0[27]\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>members were deployed in Liberia, Abyei and South Sudan.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/i><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Specialised Units It is encouraging to note that female police officers\/members are now keen to join specialised units in the organisation. During the year 2016,\u00a019<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0females joined the specialised units making a total of\u00a0115<\/strong><\/b>.<\/p>\n Sports and Recreation<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Goal<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n To increase the number of female police members participating in sport.<\/p>\n Objectives<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Achievements<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n During the year 2016, the ZRP Women Network officers and members participated in different sporting activities in the following tournaments:<\/p>\n Commissioner General of Police\u2019s Sports Gala<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n The 2016 Commissioner General of Police Sports Gala was held from 14-20 August 2016 at Morris Depot, Harare. One thousand five hundred and eight\u00a0[1 508]<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0female officers\/members participated in various sporting disciplines.
